We're back from the 2019 NAB Show. Barbizon Lighting's staff was busy exploring the show floor and even getting some sneak peeks of new products coming soon. Now we're sorting through notes and pictures to compile our annual Show Report. We'll update this post when complete - in the meantime we'll be adding items as they come in.
Check back here over the next few days and if we missed something email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know!
AAdyntech has expanded its line of fixtures with the new Punch and JAB Quad panels. At 278,000 Lumens (wow!), the Punch Quad has a 36” x 24” aperture. It has the equivalent output of four of its popular Punch fixture and is IP65 rated, all in a single soft panel configuration. The JAB Quad is a smaller version with a 24” x 18” aperture. Both fixtures have variable white color temperature control from 2800K to 6000K with Plus/Minus green correction. They are also RDM and wired and wireless DMX capable. These fixtures are excellent for slow-motion photography as they are flicker-free up to 260,000 fps along with dimming. You can power them with 100/277VAC-50/60HZ. These fit a wide range of production needs and are very well built. They dominate the sports lighting category for interviews and outdoor weather temporary set-ups and compete with HMIs with one-tenth the power required.
AC Lighting was awarded the 2019 NAB Product of the Year for their new Space Force onebytwo™, a cost-effective, bright, high-quality variable white LED soft light panel. The onebytwo™ is a modern replacement for traditional soft sources used in TV studios, live broadcast, film, and photographic applications.
Highly efficient and natively single-source, the onebytwo™ offers variable Color Temperature between 2,800K and 6,000K, and has an output of up to 13,900 lumens. The extremely high quality, diffused light is matched by a superbly smooth dimming intensity gradation. Convection cooling provides quiet operation for studio applications.
Anton Bauer, another brand in The Vitec Group was featuring their Titon Lithium-ion batteries, and faster, higher, stronger seems to be their motto. Anton/Bauer Titon is available in two versions, a 90Wh and a 150Wh Battery. These batteries deliver power in temperatures from -4F to 140F. Titon batteries feature an LCD screen that shows you exactly how much runtime remains, down to the minute as well as a Smart USB port that supplies 5v / 2A to charge all your mobile devices too.
Arri’s booth was packed this year with the introduction of
the Alexa Mini LF. Equipped with a
larger than full frame sensor, the LF records 4.5K natively. This compact new

Some highlights during NAB 2019 were their Granite Series batteries compatible with all the major brands such as Arri. These batteries differ from the competition by charging and discharging each cell at the same time rather than one by one. This allows for a much evener cycle and longer life. Additional technology on these include the innovative GRANITE LINK Wi-Fi connectivity features that allow remote battery monitoring and control, further enhancing convenience to users.
Brightline this year was featuring their new cMe2, Huddle Room Light. This new Credenza or Wall-mount fixture is heading to production and will be available soon. The fixture utilizes 3500°K CCT LEDs with a high-quality output of greater than 97 CRI, perfect for video conferencing applications. Power consumption per fixture is 32 watts. With a quick setup, available pan and tilt, and an onboard dimmer wheel Brightline is targeting this fixture at all those permanent or impromptu huddle rooms throughout your facilities. These spaces are often hard-to-light yet perfect-to-collaborate in. Standard black finish and comes with hardware for wall or Credenza mount.
featured at their booth was their line of entirely POE fixtures; BL.16, Flex-T,
Strealth-T, LVCI, and VideoPlus. These fixtures
offer simple power runs, are easy to setup, and reduce power consumption. Power
and control are carried over Cat5 or Cat6 network cable.
Chauvet several new items which they released at Prolight + Sound (they, unfortunately, were unable to bring the fixture with them to NAB)—the new Chauvet MK3 profile and spot units.
The MK3 Profile has almost 4 times the amount of lumens as the MK2—51,000 source lumens to be exact. CT is 7,441K with a CRI of 91.2 with filter (CRI is 73 without). It has a large zoom range of 6 to 54 degrees. Similar to the MK2 it has an advanced shutter system however, with a 120-degree rotation. Color mixing includes CMY and CTO, along with a 6 color flag wheel. For gobos, there are 7 rotating glass and 9 static. Other features include an effects wheel, two frost flags, fast 9:1 iris, 3 facet and 5 facet prisms. The MK3 Spot is similar to the Profile with a couple of exceptions. They replace the framing shutters with a 3rd gobo wheel (rotating) and the Spot includes a 5 facet linear and 5 facet round prism wheel.
For highlights on-set or for the control/edit rooms, Chauvet Professional's Ovation FTD-55WW is a track mounted, warm white LED (3-inch) "inkie" Fresnel-style fixture. This fixture projects a bright, beautifully soft field of light within a 30º – 69º field angle controlled by a manual zoom allowing you to add light where needed. A barn door for the fixture is included to help shape the light and direct the light.
Chimera is the premier designer and manufacturer of quality lighting products for film, video and still photography. Their lighting products consistently deliver award-winning imagery and are probably the most sought-after accessory for any lighting fixture. At NAB 2019, Chimera continued their product development with Litegear to create larger overheads with new F3. The F3 not only provides bright, even distribution of light, it also packs up into a convenient carrying case. If portability is, even more, your thing, then check out the Panel Lantern; small, portable, bright overhead lighting.
