Prior to joining Barbizon Systems Division in 1997, Mr. Gebbie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. While there, he worked on several Academy Award-winning films, gained valuable and diverse experience working for HBO Downtown Productions, Lighting Dimensions International and the New York Yankees. He also worked on a freelance basis for the CBS Soap Opera Guiding Light.
John went on to work for Strand Lighting as Technical Specialist on several projects, including the Broadway musical Ragtime, the Philadelphia Academy of Music and Bally's Wild, Wild West Casino in Atlantic City. As Lead Project Manager for Barbizon New York, John brings a strong technical background to the New York installation business. Some of his projects include the large new construction project at the American Museum of Natural History's Rose Center for Earth and Space, Broadway's newest renovation project for the Roundabout Theatre Company's American Airlines Theater. Also, he acted as Field Project Coordinator for the Universal Studios' City Walk Themepark in Orlando, Florida.
Most recently, John has been named Manager of Barbizon's New York Systems Division. With diverse knowledge in film, television and theatrical production, Mr. Gebbie provides a wide range of experience in the integration of complex lighting systems.
