Tom has been with the New York Systems Division of Barbizon since October of 2001, bringing 10 years of practical experience in theatre and television studio production application. He has a BA from The College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State College) in Communications, with a concentration in Technical Theater Production. While studying he was responsible for the lighting design and implementation of numerous theatrical and video productions.
Tom worked as a freelance theater electrician during and after college, eventually splitting time between production work for I.A.T.S.E. Locals 21 and 534 as well as duties as Theater Manager/Technical Director for Millburn High School (Millburn, NJ). Prior to joining Barbizon's Systems team, Tom spent two years with DeSisti Lighting U.S.A. as the Sales Manager in charge of all national sales.
In a successful attempt to merge the business aspects of his time with DeSisti with the creativity offered by previous artistic design endeavors, Tom chose to move to Barbizon for a career in Systems Integration. Tom has been the Systems Integrator responsible for such projects as the Kimmel Theater at The National Constitution Center (Philadelphia, PA), Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theater (New York, NY), Comcast CN8 Studios (New Castle, DE), the Whale Exhibit at The American Museum of Natural History (New York, NY) and numerous educational projects.
