Chauvet several new items which they released at Prolight + Sound (they, unfortunately, were unable to bring the fixture with them to NAB)—the new Chauvet MK3 profile and spot units.
The MK3 Profile has almost 4 times the amount of lumens as the MK2—51,000 source lumens to be exact. CT is 7,441K with a CRI of 91.2 with filter (CRI is 73 without). It has a large zoom range of 6 to 54 degrees. Similar to the MK2 it has an advanced shutter system however, with a 120-degree rotation. Color mixing includes CMY and CTO, along with a 6 color flag wheel. For gobos, there are 7 rotating glass and 9 static. Other features include an effects wheel, two frost flags, fast 9:1 iris, 3 facet and 5 facet prisms. The MK3 Spot is similar to the Profile with a couple of exceptions. They replace the framing shutters with a 3rd gobo wheel (rotating) and the Spot includes a 5 facet linear and 5 facet round prism wheel.
For highlights on-set or for the control/edit rooms, Chauvet Professional's Ovation FTD-55WW is a track mounted, warm white LED (3-inch) "inkie" Fresnel-style fixture. This fixture projects a bright, beautifully soft field of light within a 30º – 69º field angle controlled by a manual zoom allowing you to add light where needed. A barn door for the fixture is included to help shape the light and direct the light.
Clay Paky debuted two new fixtures at LDI 2016.
Hepikos- is an innovative Clay Paky washlight, which encloses all the most advanced optical, mechanical and electronic technology, characteristic of the most professional moving lights, in its highly compact body. The light is built around a new, extremely bright 700 W Osram lamp, and has a 5-40° zoom which provides a bright, uniform wash effect at maximum beam angle.
The color production system includes a CMY color mixing consisting of three wheels entirely devoted to producing single colors, as well as two color wheels, each with 8 filters carefully selected by Clay Paky's R&D department on the basis of suggestions received from lighting designers. Strict quality control on incoming materials assures near-zero tolerance rates on variations in the standard colors.
Hepikos is also an advanced multi-purpose light: thanks to its 185 mm diameter plano-convex front lens and its narrow 5° beam angle, it can produce a sharp, full-bodied beam, which may be used for striking aerial effects with saturated colors.
Some devices have been specially designed for this product: a mechanical iris, which is able to alter the beam diameter in beam mode as desired to createcolumnsof light of different sizes, right down to a pencil beam;
A four-faced interchangeable rotating prism which modulates the visual effects by breaking the light up into several dynamic projections;
A soft-edge frost filter which makes the edge of the projected light less sharp and produces the wash effect typical of a washlight with Fresnel lens.
Hepikos is ultimately ahybridbeam/wash light, where both functions are optimized, rather than one weakening the other. It is perfect for complementing the beam/spot effects produced by the Mythos, with which it shares the same chassis and the same 7800K lamp color temperature.
SCENIUS UN1CO is the latest addition to the Scenius family, therefore its first highly appealing feature is the quality of its light (1400W Osram lamp, 6500K, high CRI). It is a magnificent SPOT LIGHT for projecting effects, with six rotating gobos, a rotating prism a beautiful animation wheel, and it is equipped with the most sophisticated and most precise FRAMING SYSTEM on the market today. The Scenius Unico is also an excellent WASH LIGHT, since it features a system with different diffusion filters, which may be inserted gradually. However the most amazing feature is that the Scenius Unico can also generate a Powerful NARROW BEAM of super concentrated light, with a minimum beam angle of only 5 degrees. SCENIUS UN1CO is a Powerful, Multifunctional luminaire combining top quality light and incredible versatility of use.
Bright? Check. Color mixing? Check. 7-40° Zoom? Check. Winner of the Best Hard Edge LED Spot Award? Check. The Axcor 900 is the first Clay Paky spotlight to use a LED light source, instead of a traditional discharge lamp. Thanks to its considerable light output, the Clay Paky Axcor Profile 900 goes straight in at the top of its category and features the best in modern technology in every parameter: the characteristics of the white and colored light it produces, its ability to form perfectly sharp projections, and the precision micro-mechanics of its exclusive beam shaping system.
And to back up the Axcor 900, the K-Eye HCR provides more than enough support. The K-EYE HCRis a LED wash light which provides total control over the quality of all forms of white or colored light. The new HCR technology used in the K-EYE is an exclusive electronic platform developed by Clay Paky in conjunction with Osram to meet the needs of lighting designers all over the world who were not fully satisfied with the performance of LED devices in comparison with traditional lamps, in particular because of their incomplete color range, poor color rendering index and lack of consistency. All these limitations have been overcome in the K-EYE HCR, and it is finally possible to produce every color, every nuance and every shade with satisfactory quality. The heart of the K-EYE HCR wash light is a LED light source consisting of a module with six colors: besides the three “classic” basic red, green and blue colors, Clay Paky has added amber, cyan and lime. This exclusive Clay Paky device provides a very wide color range with excellent color spectrum coverage.
At this year’s NAB, Coemar debuted their new 6-color LEDko FS6 LED light engine and it is a winner. The new LED chip on board includes Red, Green, Blue, White (5600K), and now Lime & Phosphor Corrected Amber. Their goal was to create an all-in-one fixture that could address both Studio and Theatrical markets with the capability of producing intensely saturated colors without sacrificing the output punch of the whites. The purpose behind adding the Lime and PC Amber is to help “beef up” the Red, Green and Yellow parts of the color spectrum as well as adding the ability to produce a high CRI (above 94) throughout the range of whites. Depending on the mode you select, the new LEDko FS6 can be used as a variable white (2700K - 6500K) or an all-in-one, color changing fixture. All LEDkos can be controlled via DMX, RDM or locally at the head.
Also new to the Coemar product line are an LED Spot and Fresnel moving heads. The LEDko TM F6 uses the same 6-color LED light engine as in the LEDko FS6 in addition to all the characteristics you would expect in an intelligent profile fixture: Zoom (13-38 degrees), Internal Framing Shutters, Iris, Frost Filter, and Pan/ Tilt. For the Fresnel crowd, the LEDko TM Fresnel is available in either Tunable Tungsten (2700K - 4100K) or Tunable Daylight (4100K - 6500K), both of which include RGBW LED chips, Green/Magenta manipulation, Proportional Zoom (13-65 degrees), an Internal Barndoor Framing System, and Pan/Tilt. These will be available for sale shortly.
DTS' stand was at LDI with their new LED bar KATANA, and the moving heads CORE and NRG 1401.
KATANA introduces a brand new type of light beam: the dynamic ‘blade’ projection. Thanks to a custom 3.5° - 30° linear zoom, KATANA is capable of projecting an extra-bright blade of light that cuts through any show. Single pixel control lets you obtain stunning dynamic multicolor effects. And a super-fast motorized tilt adds a dynamic impact to your lighting performance.
NICK NRG range is a high-performance LED wash moving head. Extreme brightness, single pixel control, and 4° to 52° zoom range make this fixture perfect for a wide range of applications, either as a beam light with multi-color rays, or as a wash light with a very wide projection that comes in three sizes.
CORE is a powerful and compact discharge moving head. SPOT and BEAM all in one with the fastest effects ever seen. CORE is versatile: thanks to its 440 W HRI LAMP (24,000 Lumens), CORE is perfect in a range of applications, from TV studios to live concerts. All this in only 22 kg.
Elation showed a number of their new moving lights and static LED fixtures, most notably they debuted a pair of moving lights that are rated for outdoor use, the Proteus Beam and Hybrid. These are two moving lights that will work together well in any outdoor environment with their IP65 rating.

The GT-1 from GLP is a true hybrid fixture incorporating an optical design that doesn’t require different ‘modes’ to activate Spot, Beam, and Wash characteristics, so all feature functionality is available at any time. The GT-1 uses a high powered 470 Watt discharge lamp and features an impressive 22:1 ratio zoom range from 2.5° to 55°. Other features include wireless DMX control, full 16-bit pan and tilt movement, full range dimming and shuttering capability, an installed battery for fixture setup, auto-sensing power supply all weighing in at only 55 lbs
As a spot, the GT-1 offers a wide range of effects, including CMY color mixing, eight rotating gobos, 14 fixed pattern gobos, additional beam reduction gobos, and a variable speed animation wheel that can be repositioned within the beam, three different rotating prisms, and a fixed color wheel with CTO/CTB filters.
Looking for a beam? the GT-1 produces a parallel beam of light at 2.5° through its large 145mm diameter front lens, which remains bright and consistent over long distances. For a wash, the GT-1 produces a soft edged beam from a variable filter that can be inserted into the beam to give the desired level of wash that you wish.
LDI saw the release of the upgraded 30 Watt version of their popularX4 atomfixture. Adding a new high power 30WRGBW LED source into the unit has doubled its brightness, and created greater optical efficiencies. The unit offers a 9 to 1 ratio zoom that goes from a wide 34° wash down to a tight 3.5° beam for pinpoint accuracy and great mid-air effects.
When a single X4 atom just isn’t enough, a fast interlock system allows fixtures to easily be coupled together. The standard yoke is removed for quick assembly of pairs, quads, lines and grids of fixtures in any configuration that you need. The X4 atom runs from an external power supply, with a 6-way and a 12-way option available that feeds fixtures via an industry standard 4-pin XLR cable.
When you look for a strobe, you look for power and the JDC1 from GLP delivers power in excess through a versatile and highly creative design, the likes of which has never been seen before. The JDC1 contains a traditional single tube element created with LED’s that produce an incredibly clear, bright white output. This is then combined with a surrounding full face of RGB power, utilizing a large array of complimentary LED sources. The possibilities are endless as these two elements have independent control and can be used as separate pieces or combined for stunning effects. Along with working as a powerful strobe light, both the tube and the full face sections can be run continuously for high output blinder and wash light effects, which never reduce output or have thermal cutouts. To give even more functionality, the RGB face can be divided into 12 separate ‘pixel’ sections, and additionally, the bright white tube also can be divided into 12 sections and then the whole array can be fully pixel mapped through any standard controller.
The JDC1 also features dynamic movement with a 16 bit, 185° tilt range, allowing you to place effects exactly where and when you want them to be – and get the most possible power and impact.
