Taking center stage on ADJ’s 2016 LDI booth was the new Vizi BSW 300, an incredibly potent LED-powered hybrid moving head fixture that generates beam, spot and wash effects all from a single fixture. Offering incredible output, thanks to its immense 300W LED engine, the unit boasts a host of advanced features including two 6-facet prisms (one circular and one linear), two GOBO wheels (one with replaceable rotating GOBOs and the other with fixed static patterns) and two indexed color wheels.

AV3Following the phenomenal success of ADJ’s first LED video panel, the AV6 – which made such a product affordable for many venues and smaller production companies for the very first time – ADJ will use LDI to launch a brand new video product, the AV3. Offering a denser pixel pitch of 3.91mm (compared to 6mm on the AV6), this new LED video panel inherits many of the popular traits of the AV6 but allows a shorter effective viewing distance. Offering impressive brightness of 1000 NITs and a wide viewing angle of 120-degrees, both horizontally and vertically, the AV3 is sure to prove popular for both fixed and temporary installations

First up for ADJ is their new video panel option called the Design Series. It is a series of different geometrical video panel options. The DS4 (square), DS4T (triangle), DS4QC (quarter circle) and DS4HC (rectangle) can be easily linked together, rigged and transported. They offer a 4.8mm (0.19”) pixel pitch and brightness of 1200 NITS as well as a wide viewing angle of 160-degrees (horizontal) and 120-degrees (vertical), making them ideal for a wide variety of applications.

Next up we have the MOD Series as ADJ’s latest range of professional LED Pars. Their modular design means that the LEDs can slide back into the casing to create a snoot that eliminates side glare. There is an optional pearl white housing kit also available. This means that LED Par owners can switch between black or white fixtures, depending on the application, without having to hold inventory of two different types of fixture. Offering a beam angle of 17-degrees, each Par is also supplied with a set of three Frost Filters which can be locked into position in front of the LEDs to widen the beam to an angle of 20-degrees, 40-degrees or 60-degrees. The units come in 4 flavors:

  • MOD QW100 (7 x 15W RGBW LEDs)

  • MOD QA60 (4 x 15W RGBA LEDs)

  • MOD HEX100 (7 x 15W RGBWA+UV LEDs)

  • MOD TW100 (7 x 15W CW/WW/WW/Amber 4-IN-1 variable color temperature white LEDs)

Lastly, there was quite a buzz with their new Vizi CMY300 Moving Head. It is a 300W LED engine ideal for larger venues. It works as a beam, spot and wash fixture with a zoom range from 8 to 46 degrees. A large palette of colors is possible thanks to CMY mixing, as well as two GOBO wheels, two rotating prisms, motorized focus and motorized zoom. It is also built to make GOBO changes, servicing and on-the-road repairs extremely easy.

Chauvet Professional

On the Pro line Chauvet has developed a whole array of new lights in pretty much all areas including; Pars, Ellipsoidals, Batten lights, and Movers.

For the Pars, they now offer the “COLORado Solo Series” with the designation of “1”, “2”, and “3”. Each using the equivalent of LED RGBW 60 Watt Chips these fixtures are bright but consistent across the line. They all have motorized zooms on them which is handy when you do not want to get up on a ladder to swap lenses. Depending on the unit you should expect to get between 8 thru 55 degs range. Their faces are completely homogenized so gone are the days of looking at all those different colored LEDs. The best part is that these fixtures are outdoor rated (IP65) which is great if you are using them for events outdoors.

Chauvet OvationIn the Ellipsoidal line they have greatly added to their selection. Most units still use their RGBA-Lime LEDs which give you lots of possibilities for color, but their newer models now boast an output of close to a 750 Watt equivalent HPL lamp! Units can now come with HD lenses designed by Chauvet in 14, 19, 26, 36, and 50 deg options. They were proud to say that their lenses perform as good if not better than anyone’s on the market right now.

The “Ovation B” series fill are new batten fixtures that boast a bunch of groundbreaking features such as an RGBA-Lime color system and the incorporation of RDM, Art-Net™ and sACN plus standard DMX for programming and networking options. A 60 deg holographic filter is included and locks into place so the fixture can be used in any orientation with no worry about the filter sliding out. The units come in a variety of lengths from 1’-6’ long.

Their new moving light line is called “Maverick” and it includes a Spot, Wash, and Hybrid fixtures. Depending on your needs you have a lot of options at your fingertips. Fixtures are powered by either a 440 or 480 watt engine and boast advanced optics, dazzling effects, and stunning output. You can choose from DMX, sACN, Art-Net, or W-DMX for control.

Chauvet Professional

Chauvet's presence at LDI continues to grow with their line of fixtures for both touring and theatrical applications. The Ovation series has been overhauled a bit and there was some excitement regarding their new features on the Ellipsoidal and Fresnel fixtures.

The Ellipsoidals (Ovation- E*****) now have 3 LED versions (260WW, 260CW, and 260 WWIP) that all have a 230 W output that claim to exceed the output of a 750W tungsten source. They are all single source LEDs. They come in Warm White, Cool White and Warm White IP 65 rated.

There was also their newOvation E-930VWis a high-performance, variable white ellipsoidal style fixture that utilizes a unique 6-color LED system. This fixture projects a bright, beautifully flat field of light in nearly any temperature of white with high CRI and CQS. Each color temperature can be further adjusted for +/- green to perfect the field of light. For times when a splash of color is needed, the fixture can also give you full control of each color of LED as well.

In theirFresnel line, the big news was the Ovation F-915WW. It is a single source, Warm White LED with an output of 230W that is supposed compete with a standard 2K Fresnel’s output. It does have a motorized zoom of 27 to 68 degrees. They also have the multi-source/color LED options with a virtual color wheel that matches popular gel options. (RGBA+Lime)

The last bit of excitement regarding new fixtures would be the Ovation SP-300CW LED follow spot. It is a single source 260W LED that is quiet, and has all the standard options that you would find on a traditional follow spot. I was also told that this would work well up to a 100ft throw distance. The price point is also quite favorable when compared to its competition.

On Chauvet's video wall side, there were two new video panels at LDI: TheF4IPandF3. A high-performance outdoor-rated panel with brilliant SMD, a pixel pitch of 4.8 mm, a refresh rate of 3,840Hz, and high contrast 5,500 NITS, the VIPF4IPdisplays clear crisp images even in broad daylight, making it well-suited for festival applications. The user-friendly IP65-rated panel features magnetic LED modules for quick and easy installation and maintenance.

TheF3is a 3.9 mm pitch 1 m x 0.5 m LED video panel is equally suited for installations and rentals. Running on the Novastar control protocol, it also features magnetic LED modules that make it easy to install and service. The panels may be mounted directly on a flat wall, thanks to their front-service option.

In moving lights the newMaverick MK Pyxis featured a unique design that includes an outer ring of RGBW LEDs, a powerful zooming center pixel, 360° continuous pan and tilt movement and a host of other performance features, the new fixture produces an seemingly endless array of looks and can fill a variety of roles from beam, to wash, to set piece effect. A built-in virtual gobo wheel with background colors can be used to make the outer ring appear as if it’s spinning. With a combined center pixel and outer ring illuminance of 27,560 lux at 5 meters, the fixture has the output needed for arena applications.

Also in the Maverick series is the newMaverick MK2 Profile, the first profile light in the Maverick series. A 440W LED fixture with a high (90+) CRI, the newest member of the Maverick series has been designed to perform a wide variety of functions in theatrical, house of worship, touring, and event applications. With an illuminance of up to 14,981 lux at five meters and a zoom angle of 14° to 36°, the new fixture has the output needed for large venues and the ability to produce a range of beam sizes. For applications when less output is needed, the fixture has a low-volume “Eco Mode.”

For wash applications there is the Maverick MK3 Washraises the bar on output, color consistency, and pixel effects. Powered by 27 (40 W) Osram RGBW LEDs, it has the muscle to handle any application, including long throw situations with ease. Pixel mapping effects, built-in color macros and gobos, along with a CTO color mixing option make this powerhouse fixture the complete wash package. Control options includeDMX, sACN, Art-Net, Kling-Net or W-DMX.
