DeSisti showed their new SoftLED 2 XL which has replaced the remote phosphor technology used in the SoftLEDs with Fixed White chips. These new chips are adding 50% more light output than their predecessors while retaining CRIs greater than 96 and TLCIs of 97.5. I was told that Lighting Designers had requested DeSisti to add a longer fixture with a larger surface area. It’s nice to know they listened and acting on those suggestions. The SoftLED 2 XL uses the same power as the SoftLED 4 but is 20% brighter. On another note, the Piccoletto joins the DeSisti line of Variable White Fresnels (2700K - 6500K). This is their 300W tungsten equivalent.
Desisti VW Line of fixtures
Desisti will be adding plus/minus green to their VariWhite line of Fresnels. The addition of Lime and Magenta Led’s will allow users to better control color balance. This feature will be available in all fixtures in their VW line. DeSisti has also added the F7 & F10HP to the VW Fresnel range.
DeSisti also was showing their popular led Softlight series. The newly designed DeSisti SOFT LED are available in color-tunable variable white and fixed white with Remote Phosphor. These fixtures have a controlled beam and soft white source, ideal for multiple camera use in the studio, with more effective control of the beam projection with their effective honeycomb grids in various beam angles. Fixtures are available in various sizes based on your needs and ceiling heights.
Desisti Space Light Prototype
Desisti showed a Prototype Space Light they hope to release later this year. The fixture will use the same driver found in their Soft Series, will have variable White capabilities, and at 340 Watts, boast a 6K equivalent.
DeSisti showed several exciting new fixtures for the types of small studio spaces which are increasingly common as more and more clients move to in-house content creation to feed social media. The Piccoletto is a 30W, 3” LED Fresnel with an impressive 15-80 degree zoom. Available in tungsten or daylight and a CRI of 95+, this tiny unit weighs 2.5 pounds and is also available as a track mount fixture. When used with track, control can be via DMX using the power + data track which is becoming increasingly common or optional Bluetooth control using the Casambi app. There is also a variable-white color temperature unit coming early next year. The Soft LED 1 is a 60W remote phosphor LED softlight. Shipping in Q1, this unit will offer similar configurations as the Picolletto and provides the even, soft, wrapping light that has made remote phosphor fixtures so popular. DeSisti has also added the option of mounting their existing, larger F4.7 Fresnel fixtures to power + data track for spaces requiring higher output or a longer throw than the Piccolletto. Coemar showed finalized versions of their RGBW LEDko and SoftLite fixtures as well as the LEDko EXT Exterior LED Profile. The LEDko was shown with a 28-40 degree zoom optic producing a very flat field. The individual LEDs making up the illuminator have been chosen for their color range and even mixing. LEDko units are also available in fixed color temperature white at 3200k and 5600k at a CRI of 92 and an optional Studio version with a CRI of 97. The LEDko EXT marries the above with a sleek, IP65 rated aluminum housing for outdoor use. Adjustments to focus, gobo, and shutters are manual and made by removing the front section of the barrel. Coemar also showed their SoftLite RGBW LED wash unit. With a 120-degree field, this 250W unit is a capable wash light for large areas. The LEDs are shielded behind a frosted acrylic panel which eliminates the pixelation sometimes seen with this type of larger unit. The addition of an asymmetric reflector further improves its use as a cyc light. The combination of the wide angle and high output mean that it should be possible to reduce the overall number of fixtures required for many installations.
At 5.5 lb, the LED1000 Pro Bi-Color LED Light with V-Mount Battery Plate from Dracast is an ideal choice for location work, interviews and small sets where color accuracy, control, and flicker-free output are of major importance. The 95 CRI variable color temperature from 3200-5600K or anywhere in between means that you can quickly match the prevailing ambient or artificial light balance with a simple twist of a knob while others are still applying filters. Dimming is equally convenient via another knob that adjusts the light intensity from 100-0% with negligible color shift. The low electrical draw of just 60W means a timely return on your investment. The durable aluminum frame is supported by a sturdy, U-shaped yoke with locking knobs on each side and a standard 5/8″ receiver. The LED1000 can be used worldwide, powered by the included 100-240 VAC adapter or by optional V-Mount 14.8V batteries. Accessories include optional 4-way barn doors for contouring and control of the LED1000’s 45-degree beam angle. A carry case is included.
Dracast has revealed an attractive and round soft light under it's Aparo brand dubbed the “Luna.” Based on the existing Silk Ray, these fixtures will come in larger sizes with a very narrow profile (at just over ½ an inch). Edge-mount LED’s point inward while a distribution panel creates a soft, 180 degree beam spread. According to Dracast, this technology mimics ambient light by eliminating hot spots and hard shadows. Available in either bicolor or daylight, this fixture will be ideal for portrait photography due to the exceptional softness and wrap it creates around the subject. https://www.aparolight.com/ https://www.dracobroadcast.com
