Fiilex

Fiilexreleasedtheirnew P360 Pro and P360 Pro Plus portable LED lights at the NAB show this year.

Fiilex has upgraded both fixtures, both include a swanky new OLED display to show precise CCT, hue (for Pro Plus), intensity, and DMX levels. They've also made some physical improvements to include a longer yoke, accessory lock, and deeper spigot.

P360 Pro is the next-generation version of Fiilex's flagship portable LED light. This 400W-equivalent fixture takes everything that made the original P360 great and brings it to the next level. The CCT range has been expanded (2800-6500K) and dimming now runs from 0-100%. The Pro maintains top-tier CRI (>93) at any setting.

Weighing under two pounds, the weather-resistant (IP-24) P360 Pro and Pro Plus are designed for travel, but it can also be easily integrated into DMX setups with its onboard DMX functionality.

Fiilex offers a wide array of accessories, ranging from magnetic fresnels and diffusers, to softboxes and larger fresnel attachments. With these light modifiers, the Pro Plus can be turned into a broad fill, a powerful spot, or anything in between.

Frezzi

At NAB this year we saw the updated Frezzi SunLight weighs in at only 6.5 pounds but packs the punch of an HMI 575 at 93 CRI! Almost 1000 foot candles at 10 feet!

It uses Broadcast quality, high output LEDs and has a new Directional Focusing design so there is no need for shaping filters that normally reduce output. The focus control adjusts from a native 20-degree spot to a wide flood.

The Frezzi SunLight operates on AC or DC with a runtime of 45 minutes with HD broadcast batteries. It is rugged, 100% dimmable, fully weatherproof and an excellent choice in portable high output lighting for ENG/EFP work.

Next, based on the Frezzi Mini-Fill, the ProLight is quickly becoming the standard in on-camera lighting. Featuring a quick release and low-profile base that stays wired allowingfor quick set up and strike.

The ProLight has a rugged aluminum construction and an articulating arm that provides many mounting positions and heights. The connector has a pass through that allows other devices that use the same power tap. It also has a built-in USB charging port so you can charge your phone or any USB powered device!

This light is weatherproof, full spectrum 90+ CRI and features a rugged combo barn door filter assembly!

Gantom

Gantom Storm SeriesNew to the Gantom booth this year was Gantom’s new line of outdoor rated fixtures and outdoor rated cable. For those who are not familiar with the Gantom line, they carry a line of tiny fixtures with big output. There are flood and spot fixtures and also a gobo projector fixture. Both indoor and outdoor fixtures come in a variety of color options including fixed white, variable white or RGBW.

Gantom also has a line of controllers. Most are designed to work with their fixtures some of their products however their apps and the GPlex Micro console can be used with any DMX units. We use the GPlex constantly for small demos or testing new fixtures when a full lighting console is not necessary.

German Light Products (GLP)

BLP GT-1The GT-1 from GLP is a true hybrid fixture incorporating an optical design that doesn’t require different ‘modes’ to activate Spot, Beam, and Wash characteristics, so all feature functionality is available at any time. The GT-1 uses a high powered 470 Watt discharge lamp and features an impressive 22:1 ratio zoom range from 2.5° to 55°. Other features include wireless DMX control, full 16-bit pan and tilt movement, full range dimming and shuttering capability, an installed battery for fixture setup, auto-sensing power supply all weighing in at only 55 lbs

As a spot, the GT-1 offers a wide range of effects, including CMY color mixing, eight rotating gobos, 14 fixed pattern gobos, additional beam reduction gobos, and a variable speed animation wheel that can be repositioned within the beam, three different rotating prisms, and a fixed color wheel with CTO/CTB filters.

Looking for a beam? the GT-1 produces a parallel beam of light at 2.5° through its large 145mm diameter front lens, which remains bright and consistent over long distances. For a wash, the GT-1 produces a soft edged beam from a variable filter that can be inserted into the beam to give the desired level of wash that you wish.

GLP X4 AtomLDI saw the release of the upgraded 30 Watt version of their popularX4 atomfixture. Adding a new high power 30WRGBW LED source into the unit has doubled its brightness, and created greater optical efficiencies. The unit offers a 9 to 1 ratio zoom that goes from a wide 34° wash down to a tight 3.5° beam for pinpoint accuracy and great mid-air effects.

When a single X4 atom just isn’t enough, a fast interlock system allows fixtures to easily be coupled together. The standard yoke is removed for quick assembly of pairs, quads, lines and grids of fixtures in any configuration that you need. The X4 atom runs from an external power supply, with a 6-way and a 12-way option available that feeds fixtures via an industry standard 4-pin XLR cable.

High End Systems

High End Quad LuminaireQuad & Hex further expand on the Uno and Shapeshifter technology by combining the two! The quad uses 4 Uno LED engines (RGBW) to create aerial effects. All 4 cells offer the ability to be individually controlled as well as X,Y controls of each cell. The Hex also uses the LED engines from the Uno but has six mounted in a linear fashion. Both units contain and Indigo Backlighter, while the Hex has a zoom range of 3.5 Degrees to 40 Degrees the Hex is 3.5 degrees to 70 degrees. Also on the floor was new software for the Hog lineup that allows integration with Lightware allowing for communications between both product lines, making for simpler setup of AV and lighting integration.

Kinotehnik

kinotehnik PractiliteKinotehnik has introduced the Practilite 602. The 602 is a versatile bright LED Fresnel lighting fixture that comes with an app for smartphones and is Bluetooth capable. This remote function is cost-effective and useful for single-person shooters or small crews when a gaffer is not available. The Practilite 602 makes event lighting, documentary shooting and field interviews more efficient as managing the lighting setup and adjustments are made with greater ease.

The 602's unique fresnel lens design provides greater light range than conventional LED fixtures and enables superior color mixing. The lensing also allows wider shot angles and precise light-shaping without losing the LED output power/throw which is typically the case with barndoor controlled fixtures. This compact and powerful fresnel light is designed to gather and throw as much light as possible through its 3.2" 80mm fresnel lens, providing you with unprecedented size to light output ratio.

The variable color temperature allows operators to adjust to a variety of color temperatures that each shooting location requires. From tungsten to daylight or any lighting situation in between, you just dial in the matching color balance and required brightness from your smartphone.

LitePanels

lp-astra-softLitepanels showed their new Astra 1X1 Soft Bi-Color. This fixture is available exclusively in Bi-Color and gives you the output of a soft light but in a flat panel form factor. It has a higher intensity, and with this soft light, you get a much wider area than what you usually get from a single fixture - output is comparable to a 2K Tungsten or 575W HMI.

Litepanels also showed their new product, ‘Manfrotto, Powered by Litepanels’. This is a series of on-camera (Spectra 2, MicroPro 2 and Croma 2) and half-panel LED lights (Lykos). The Croma 2 is a bi-color light that takes the potential of the original Croma and doubles the output, achieving twice the brightness of the original using Sony manfrotto-on-camL-Series Batteries. The Micropro 2 is a daylight LED solution that also manages to achieve twice the brightness of the original Micropro whilst powered by a Sony L-Series Battery. The Spectra 2 doubles the performance and brightness of its predecessor, making it a fantastic value for photo and video professionals seeking an efficient, portable lighting solution. The Lykos Bi-Color and Daylight fixtures are the flagship product of the series and have the ergonomics to be operated with one hand. This unit is as bright as the original Litepanel 1x1 and half the size.
