Lightronics

Lightronics offers a wide range of lighting solutions - ranging everywhere from the lighting fixture to dimming, programming, and controls. This year Lightronics was showcasing an LED house light that is currently in prototype. The fixture will likely be available in both 2700K and 4000K color temperatures as well as options for DMX, RJ45 as well as Phoenix connector options for getting control into the fixture. The fixture houses a 100W emitter with a 50W PSU - at full intensity, this fixture only pulls a mere 150W. There will also be shroud and recess kit options available as well as hanging options to be yoke mount and threaded rod with lens options being 25, 40 and 60 degrees. The unit itself is flicker-free and has a very nice dimming curve that slows down dramatically at the bottom end. http://www.lightronics.com/

LiteGear

LiteGear showed the benefits of their new CineMitter series of applied phosphor LEDs. Exclusive to LiteGear, these new emitters set the standard for cinematic, color-correct LED lighting. Efficient, and full-spectrum, these LED chips offer state-of-the-art output with a 40% increase in brightness over VHO Pro. Another distinct feature of the CineMitter is the extended Kelvin range. LiteGear pushed the lower CCT to 2600 degrees Kelvin (K) allowing for candlelight or deep-tungstenoutput while increasing the CRI to a staggering 95+ — that’s nearly indistinguishable from traditional incandescent sources! On the cool side, the CCT was pushed up to 6000K to better balance for overcast sky or cool white fluorescents. This increase in CCT still achieves a CRI of 95+ and provides beautiful, full-spectrum daylight. CineMitter is now standard on LiteMat S2, LiteMat+ Plus, LiteTile — and coming soon to LiteRibbon. Speaking of LiteMats, the new LiteMat+ Plus series of LED lightfixtures is the ideal luminaire for set lighting and rental company inventories. LiteMat+ Plus incorporates everything you love about LiteMat, features thenew CineMitter, and adds somedistinctly new features. The most notable change is the PL7 lockingconnection system, which happens to be the same for every size of LiteMat+ Plus, and the new LiteDimmer+ Plus series of dimmers with built-in camera battery mounts.

LiteDimmer Universal is a professional, cinema-grade,icker-free, LED DMX dimmer. This standard capacity (8A total), o ers both manual and remote dimming inone. The LiteDimmer Universal is designed to work with Single, Hybrid, RGB, andRGBW/A LiteRibbon, has an operating voltage from 12VDC to 48VDC, and allows foradjustable PWM. LiteDimmer Universal-W offers all of the same features of the Universal dimmer but adds the feature of built-in wireless DMX. Using genuine LumenRadio CRMX technology ensures compatibility with LumenRadio CRMX and Wireless SolutionW-DMX transmitters.

LiteGear also presented a check for $7750 representing a percentage of the profits from sales of their new flagship fixtures, LiteMat+ Plus, to support the Behind the Scenes Charity. Upon presenting the check, LiteGear CEO, Al DeMayo, stated “We are very proud to be part of such a great charity. The support for entertainment industry members is an admirable cause that LiteGear can really get behind.” Tobin Neis of the BTS Foundation Board of Directors commented, “Behind the Scenes is thrilled to have LiteGear as a part of our Pledge-a-Product program and for their first year they and their customers have made a wonderful contribution that will go far to help entertainment technicians in times of crisis.” http://www.litegear.com/

LiteGear

Further expanding on the popular LiteMat, LiteGear introduced their LiteMat Spectrum. It can accurately reproduce any shade of white that the camera considers correct. That can be anywhere between 2,000K and 11,000K with +/- 8 points of tint correction. LiteMat Spectrum can also augment its white light with color accents. Saturated color can be delicately added with 100 shades of depth. LiteMat Spectrum can also improve post-production workflows.

Rosco

Rosco had several new products on the floor including their Image Spot, X-Effects LED Projector, Opti-Sculpt and their newest item which was only available as a preview prior to launch, the Pica Zoom Lens. Using a mere 45W of power, the Image Spot LED projector packs an amazing amount of light output from a versatile and compact design. The cool white LEDs and crystal clear optics ensure bright imaging in virtually any environment, and enable vivid gobo projection up to 40 feet (12m) away! Image Spot can also be used to create spot illumination for artwork in museums, accent lighting in hospitality venues or highlight products inside retail displays. Image Spot is available in both IP40 and IP65 models, allowing it to be used indoors or outdoors. Please note that Image Spot does not ship with a lens. Choose from the available narrow, medium and wide lens accessories when ordering to achieve the imaging or beam spread your project requires. The X-Effects LED Projector is available in two models that project bright, vibrant lighting effects – a cool white, 5500K unit and a color-mixing RGBW unit. Both models feature bright output, are capable of 33’ (10m) throws, and feature four lens accessories to choose from – enabling designers the ability to adjust the fixture’s beam-spread to their project. Just like the X24, the standard X-Effects Glass that ships with the fixture can be swapped out to create other lighting effects. Another new feature of the X-Effects LED Projector is its IP65 rating, which means its effects can be projected wherever they’re needed – indoors and outdoors. The X-Effects LED Projector is fully dimmable and features both onboard controls and RDM-compatible DMX controls. Three knobs provide manual control of the dimming and speed/direction of the two pieces of X-Effects Glass inside the fixture. The fixture’s DMX and RDM capabilities not only control dimming & speed/direction, it also provides remote addressing of the fixture plus color control of the RGBW fixture. OPTI-SCULPT was also being shown at their booth. Based on preliminary data provide by Rosco the OPTI-SCULPT Filters provide precise angular beam control – enabling lighting professionals to accurately and affordably control the shape of their light. Rosco’s unique, proprietary process offers increased brightness with engineered light distribution that has been laboratory tested for accuracy and repeatability. OPTI-SCULPT Filters are available in 12 different patterns: five symmetrical designs, including a unique reversible 40/60 degree pattern and seven rectilinear, asymmetrical designs. The filters are manufactured using flame retardant, 10mil thick, semi-rigid polycarbonate and are available in 20”x24” and 40”x24” seamless sheets that can be cut to any size and shape to fit any light fixture. Designed for LED but suitable for use on LED and conventional fixtures, OPTI-SCULPT has high transmission vs standard diffusion materials. Rosco also had their new Zoom Lens for viewing on the show floor. While they did not have any preliminary data sheets available on this product, the basis of the Zoom Lens was to provide beam spreading for their Pica fixtures by the application of an electric current which would then alter the level of diffusion in the lens. We’ll make sure to keep our eyes open for more on the product from Rosco hopefully coming soon! http://rosco.com/

Update your lighting kit with the bright, compact TotaLED Daylight LED Floodlight from Lowel. A modernization of the old Lowel Tota light, the TotaLED retains its powerful 750W tungsten equivalent brightness, but this model is updated to a daylight LED panel with sturdy metal construction and a large heatsink to keep it cool when operated for long periods. Its fanless design also keeps it quiet on set.

The light's 160 5600K LEDs have a long, 50,000-hour lifespan, so you won't have to change any burned-out bulbs. Its 65° beam angle covers large areas with ambient light, and you can slide in the removable diffuser panel to broaden the beam angle to 100°.

The light is powered by a controller box that connects to the light with a 4-pin XLR; connect either an AC adapter or use the built-in V-mount plate with a separately available battery. The box also features a knob for 100-10% stepless dimming - which can then be brought down to totally 0%, a mounting slot, and a hanger loop for hanging on a stand.

The TotaLED is supported by a built-in tilting yoke with a 5/8" mount, which is tightened by a large locking knob. The yoke also features a shoe-style mount to attach your controller box by its mounting slot. Further up the yoke, there's a 1/4"-20 accessory mount for adding gobos or flags. There's also a separate umbrella mount with a small locking knob that can support umbrellas up to 45". Its built-in two-way barndoors help you shape the light, and there are two integrated gel clips on the outside of each barndoor. The barndoors fold down to protect the light panel when not in use.

The included AC adapter can be used worldwide with optional plug adapters, and it all comes in a carry case to protect and transport the light.

The TotaLED is a portable flood light that emits 4275 lux of flicker-free continuous light. It operates on AC or battery power, and it draws only 70 W to deliver the equivalent output of a 750 W tungsten bulb. The TotaLED is daylight balanced (5600 K) and with a CRI of 96.3, it delivers excellent color accuracy. Its power output is controlled by a stepless dimmer knob that ranges from 100% to 0% brightness.T
