The Q1000 is Fiilex’s new flagship fixture. With a TLCI score >98, this powerful LED Fresnel offers full dimming for 100%-0% without any color spiking. On board controls for dimming, hue control of +/- Magenta, Green, battery capability, and weighing 13 lbs with an IP24 rating makes this an attractive fixture for ENG production in the field. Both 5-pin and RJ45 inputs for DMX make this fixture’s transition to studio use easy. Of course, the strong advantage of all of Fiilex’s fixtures is the list of accessories that can attach to all of their product lines such as—8” Fresnel lenses, PAR reflector, dome diffuser, speed rings, and soft-boxes. Fiilex also has a wide range of other fixtures for both video and other applications.. Their line even has a LED Viewing Lamp that can transform your desk into a color viewing workstation. At a fraction of the size and cost of traditional viewing stations, the V70 offers the same clean D50 and D65 light used by professionals to evaluate and compare colors in prints, paints, and fabrics. Its high CRI guarantees that your colors will look beautiful, and four color temperature settings (3000K, 4000K, 5000K, 6500K, accurate to +/- 100K) allow you to assess your work in a variety of lighting conditions. The V70 includes a low profile Dome Diffuser and is compatible with many other Fiilex accessories, giving you even greater versatility in image viewing. Operated by three touch controls, this sleek lamp allows user to turn the light on/off, dim the light smoothly, and change the color setting. http://fiilex.com/
Frezzi has come out with two new fixtures this year. First up, is their new Skylight fixture. Skylight is a weatherproof high intensity daylight LED fixture that puts out an equivalent of 650W Tungsten or 125W-150W HMI Source using only 75W of power. It can be run on AC or battery power. Depending on battery, unit can get up to two hrs on a single charge! Equally impressive, is their new Eylight fixture which has built off the success of their other “on camera” compact fixtures. The Eylight features a compact “all in one design” that delivers the highest output with lowest power consumption. It can get over 3.5 hrs of runtime with its clever quick swap high energy rechargeable battery. http://www.frezzi.com/
Hasselbad/BRON has added a larger PARA-Light to their battery of soft, reflective light. This is especially easy to add to the new BRON 1600W HMI. The FT System, stands for “Focusing Tube”. The PARA stands for “Parabolic Reflector”. There are 24 soft silver reflectors that make up the pop-open umbrella. Four clamps will lock it open, then the focus tube slides forward for a sharper beam, or slides inside to create a super soft effect. The new 1600W Kit can be used with the most compact PARA 88 (34”x24”) up to the PARA 330 (130” x 95”). http://www.bron.ch/broncolor/
The Hive Lighting team made a buzz on the NAB floor with their plasma light sources. Inside each fixture is a ball of super heated noble gases, captured in a quartz capsule the size of a kernel of corn. Hive combines this bulb with revolutionary optical systems in three current fixtures. The Bee Plasma Flood is Hive’s first “open face”- style lighting solution. The Bee has a 100 degree flood, it fits four point and eight point softboxes, photo umbrellas, and a traditional glass fresnel lens, making it a tool for both motion and still image production. Adjustable color temperature between 4600K – 7000K CCT, powered with 90-277VAC or 18-38VDC. Flicker free, 30,000 hour bulb life, vibration and impact resistant, and capable of producing output twice of LEDs, 4X brighter than fluorescents and 5X brighter than incandescents, all from a single point source bulb. Wasp Plasma Par can be plugged into the wall pulling only 276 watts. Wasp is a Par, a profile Spot, or a Maxi. It fits 4 point and eight point softboxes, photo umbrellas, traditional glass lenses and Hive’s unique HDP lenses. The Wasp has the same CCT range and power of the Bee but the brighter output shortens lamp life to 10,000 hours, but with the output equivalent of 400 – 4,000 Watt HMIs depending on accessories. Hive’s theatrical/studio product line takes the benefits of Hive’s single unique Plasma bulb, a micro-star, and combines it with a fully dimmable and color changeable optical wheel. The high output, high CRI, full spectrum daylight Hive pioneered for on location and studio work is now available for theatrical and permanent installation. The 30,000 hour (recommended) replacement and using only 300 Watts, with very low heat, makes Hive’s theatrical fixtures the perfection solution for broadcast studios, live events, and permanent installations like museums, domes, atria and theme parks. http://hivelighting.com
IDX’s latest edition to their Endura V-mount battery line is the E-HL10DS. It is a lithium ion battery with a 96 watt capacity that can handle a 10A/120w load. Weight is under 2 lbs. and is perfect for those applications where light weight and high draw are critical. It has a built-in D-tap connector that can handle a 50w load for camera accessories.
With a growing presence and footprint on the NAB show floor iKan’s new on-camera product line include the iLED6 and iLED312-V2. The iLED6 has a color temperature of 5600k and 93-CRI. It comes with built in barn doors, a flag for tungsten, and a diffusion flag. This fixture also has a dimming knob and variable ring for spot/flood. The iLED312-V2 now has a digital display with battery life indicator. This is an advancement to a fixture which already has on-board dimming form 0%-100%, CCT variation from 3200K-5600K (which also readout on the display). The fixture includes (2) Sony “L” series DV batteries and can interlocked together on a stand for a brighter source. As well as diffusion filters, barn doors, and a host of other accessories. Coming soon from iKan is their LED Fresnel line in an architectural white housing. These fixtures come in 100, 200, and 350 Watt with active cooling, DMX in/out, local dimming, and sturdy aluminum construction. http://ikancorp.com/
The Kino Flo booth was a buzz with people checking out the Celeb 200, Celeb 400 & Celeb 400Q DMX LED softlights. The Celeb series LED produces a soft, even wraparound light quality (PRI 95) and produces color faithfully, beautifully on HD or film, in the studio or on location. Kino Flo also has made improvements to the Fluorescent line with the introduction of the Mega 4Bank DMX. The 8ft and 6ft Mega 4Bank DMX lighting systems are reintroduced with a new design. With new universal voltage from 100VAC-240VAC, the lighter weight Mega 4Bank DMX ballast draws only 4.3A (120VAC), almost 50% less than the previous model. New features include new graphics and new rounded power switches with the same classic features: individual light control, HO/Standard switching and the same high quality standards: flicker-free, instant-on, dead quiet operation. Color temperature doesn’t shift when light levels change. The large portable soft lights give the cinematographer or lighting designer a unique soft light that cannot be easily duplicated with traditional luminaires. Lightweight and cool in operation, they can be hand-held, attached directly to a set wall or stand mounted.
