Cast Software

From the world of bleeding-edge cool; BlackTrax from the software genius’ at Cast. BlackTrax is a real-time solution that tracks objects or people in a defined 3D “Space” and delivers the dynamic positional data in real-time in up to 6 Degrees of Freedom - the usual x, y, z, plus roll, pitch & yaw - to audio, lighting and media technologies, as well as CAST’s new BlackBox. At the show they displayed this phenomena using moving slot cars and intelligent lighting fixtures, while at the same time controlling camera angles, multimedia and audio. Mind- numbing. Here's a video of it in action:

Clear-Com debuted a new neat new products of note at NAB this year. The MasterBelt Base Station offers the all the features of the Tempset 2400 rack mounted base station in a belt pack style enclosure. The MasterBelt belt pack supports up to (6) total headsets in full 2-channel duplex mode. This new system will be great for sports coverage and other on-location crews where constant communication is necessary. Designed to be comfortable, rugged and robust, the MasterBelt Station and all Tempest BeltStations can operate in harsh weather conditions and are protected by a durable, weather-resistant ABS co-polymer blend with a high performance polyurethane overmold. The MasterBelt is provided with a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery capable of up to 8 hours of operation or can be powered by (3) Standard AA Alkaline batteries as backup, providing 4 hours of operations. The CC-300 and CC-400 headsets are equipped with hyper-cardioid dynamic microphones and high ambient noise attenuation headphones that deliver balanced audio performance to the user. The acoustic isolation capability significantly reduces external background noise and with a clear audio profile, including up to 20 kHz frequency response, the new headsets are made for professionals who demand high quality sound. The headset microphones can be turned on and off by moving the microphone boom. Users need only to pull the boom gently downwards to turn on the microphone, and push the boom gently upwards to turn it off, in effect giving the users a quick and simple mute to their intercom system. Interchangeable cabling is another major benefit of the CC-300 and CC-400 headsets. Both headsets come with a standard 4-pin female connector, but users can easily change the cable and connector at the base of the headset by using a Phillips screwdriver in order to accommodate different connector types. The same process can be used to repair and replace a damaged cable on the fly.

Dedotech USA

When you think of Dedolights the first words that come to mind are precision lighting instruments. The DLED4.0 is exactly that and more. The Dedolight patented aspherical optic system is what makes the precision of the DLED4.0 possible. Now add to this an LED chip that is hand tested and selected and you have possibly the most refined of all available tv/film light sources. Dedolight rejects 11 of 12 LED chips they receive for inclusion in the fixture because they are not up to their exacting standards. And you can see the difference in the end product. The outstanding light efficiency and unprecedented focusing range are in a class by itself. The DLED4.0 offers clean light with a controlled precision light beam, no stray light outside and perfectly even light distribution within the beam. It’s pattern projection has super focus ability and with their available barndoors, they make sharp beam cuts. The DLED4.0 is a 45 watt fixture that can operate in any position and has no need of a cooling fan. This is a small light with a lot of punch. Because of its’ high level optics, an extremely wide spot to flood range and bright output is created. Here is the data: at 9’ it has 14fc at flood, 29fc at medium and 279fc at spot. That’s not a misprint…279fc at spot! I think that’ll work. Just back this off a bit from spot and you’ve got a very bright, usable light beam at 45 watts. How is that for efficiency?! At 3 lbs and 7” long, the DLED4.0 has no equal. They are available in tungsten, daylight and bi-color, for those who want the option to do both. There are many accessory options and coming soon is a full line of DLEDs in various other wattages. This is one well designed lighting instrument, but we knew that. It’s a Dedolight.

DeSisti Lighting

Desisti’s LED Fresnel line is now available in 3 models, 40, 90 and 120 watt. These are respectively equivalent to 500, 650 and 1200 watt standard tungsten units. They are available in either tungsten or daylight balanced color temperature. All versions have DMX dimming and will ship with a safety kill switch that will disable the fixture when the lens is opened. Desisti has also made a retrofit kit for existing Leonardo Fresnels. The retro fit includes the electronics, fan, heat sink and LED and is easily replaced with just four screws. It’s a nice option for folks that already have Leonardo Fresnels looking to migrate to LED lighting technology.
