It works with Sony’s E-mount Nex-FS 100 as well as other mirror-less DSLR cameras. Also, it works with virtually all PL lenses including the new Angenieux Optimo DP lenses. The Cine Lens mount adapter accepts 15mm rods or third-party 15mm support brackets.

A.C. Lighting

On display was the new multi-purpose Studio Force LED variable white (V) and daylight (D) fixture range for film and television. Units are available in 1’, 4’, and 6’ configurations. Optional accessories include spread lenses, light bank, egg crates, barn doors louver, top hat and barn doors. The Chroma Q Studio Force fixture was also shown with a prototype polycarbonate phosphor panel, providing additional output and the ability to easily change between tungsten and daylight color temperature. A.C. Lighting also had on display the popular Color Force range of RGBA fixtures. Like the Studio Force, units are available in 1’, 4’, and 6’ configurations. Known for their rich colors and good lumen output, these fixtures are popular as a cyclorama light in broadcast applications.

Alcorn McBride

Alcorn was featuring three products at NAB this year. The SetPlayer SP1000 is a robust, economical HD video clip player with no moving parts. It even works with your existing VDCP control systems. The SetPlayer 1000 provides on-demand solid state video clip playback in 1RU. It's ideal for seamlessly looping logos or scenes on on-set monitors. Clips are stored on CompactFlash; just copy them directly to the CF card, transfer them using a USB flash drive, or upload them via Ethernet. The unit offers a variety of playback options, supporting the most popular audio/video encoding standards including MPEG2, H.264 and VC-1. With a 1080i output and 40 Mbps maximum bitrate, video quality is superb. The SetPlayer is designed with no moving parts to provide reliable playback every time. TheSetPlayer SP8000 is a multi-channel video clip player, offering up to 8 channels of high-definition video in only 3 rack units. It's ideal for seamlessly looping logos or scenes on on-set monitors. All channels are synchronized with each other without the need for complex a control solution. Use your existing VDCP controller and Genlock to house sync. Video clips are stored on CompactFlash cards, which means no moving parts and hours of playback time. The SetPlayer is designed to be an easy, reliable, and economical solution for on-set video. Alcorn also released MediaFlow as a workflow solution to encode source material and transfer it to your Alcorn McBride unit(s). MediaFlow software is preconfigured to produce video 100% compatible with Alcorn McBride products. It steps you through the process and quickly readies your content for use. After your material is encoded, MediaFlow's built-in FTP capability can automatically transfer files to your Ethernet enabled device. It accepts all the major video formats and outputs H.264 or MPEG2 video (MPEG or AAC audio). MediaFlow supports PAL and NTSC. MediaFlow does not currently support Dolby Digital (AC3) multiplexing. American Grip

American Grip had they wide-array of grip products at NAB this year and are always implementing ongoing improvements to their products.

Anton Bauer

At NAB, Anton Bauer unveiled some major enhancements to their existing line along with a couple of new products worth noting. NAB 2012 brought the announcement that, effective immediately, all Anton Bauer batteries would be shipping with new RealTime Display fuel gauge window. Easy-to-read, RealTime update eliminates the original [and confusing] “pie chart” display in favor of a simple hour and minute time-remaining display and universal appearing battery scale graphic. Another enhancement is the integration, across all Logic Series batteries, of the SleepMode motion detection feature. Reducing unnecessary discharge when not in use, shaking the battery or attaching it to a mount will awaken it from stand-by. Wireless HD transmission is now available from Anton Bauer / IMT in a Gold Mount enabled package. For use in the unlicensed 5.8Ghz band (also works in licensed 2.3Ghz band), the transmitter and receiver have a stated range of up to three-quarters of a mile. Wireless monitor from Direct VU is available separately from the transmitter and receiver, which we are told will list at less than $25,000. For powering cinema cameras on location, Anton Bauer was showing their VLCX series batteries, which integrate four Hytron 140 cells for a total of 560Wh of power at 20a / 14.4V or 12a / 28V (for Sony F23/F35 cameras). The VLCX series replaces the hot-swappable cinema chargers. Call Barbizon for pricing on the VLCX series batteries and charger. New at NAB this year was Anton Bauer’s Matrix Cheese Plate system for either 15mm or 19mm rods systems. With an array 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 mounting holes on the plate, which can be oriented horizontally or vertically, it is possible to mount disk recorders and Anton Bauer Gold mounts to the camera’s existing rods system. List price will be less than $300 with either 15mm or 19mm clamps.

Arri's two HMI new fixtures feature Arri’s Max Technology Reflector for enhanced output with a smooth field and crisp shadows within the full range of spot-to-flood focus. The M40 uses a 4000 watt HMI lamp and the M18 an 1800 watt HMI lamp. The M18 has the advantage of being able to run off of a 20A 120VAC outlet. Arri also featured their L7-C color controllable 7” LED Fresnel. Its smooth dimming 0-100% curve and 220W draw rivals a 1kW incandescent with its even field and crisp shadows. Correlated color temperature range from 2800°K to 10,000°K (+/- green) with hue/saturation selectable mode for a broad range of color available in heavy saturation to pastel. The Fresnel adjusts from 15°-50° and features a built-in brake to hold position, is IP54 rated for weather resistance and has full on board control in addition to the standard 5-pin DMX input.
