“ Reports from Barbizon staffers about the latest products and releases featured at the LDI 2017 Show held November 12-19, 2017 in Las Vegas, Nevada. ”
Elation had many new offerings at the show. Three fixtures of particular interest were:
ETC’s booth atLDI 2017was awash in color as the newColorSource CYCluminaire made its debut. This new compact, affordable five-color LED cyclorama light that specializes in smooth washes and rich color.
Among the other products making their first appearance at LDI were theIon Xe and Ion Xe 20consoles, which update the compact Eos® family desk with backlit keyboards, increased output, and the option of built-in faders.

Part of the Group One stand, Elekralite has some neat new things at LDI this year.
Stingray Profile- Not new to Elektralite but worth a mentioning. With a 300w COB LED and balanced 3200k color temperature it really packs a punch yet maintains a 95CRI. Elektralite is using a proprietary diffraction lens system to really punch up the brightness. Interchangeable 19°, 26°, 36°, or 50° lens tubes offer multiple beam spreads to find just the beam size you need. It also comes with 4 shutters giving you clean cuts, and dual slots on the front of the fixture to use color and diffusion at the same time. Power in and out is provided via PowerCON . There is a simple to use onboard DMX interface with 5 pin DMX in and out.
Stingray 7-Color- The Stingray 7-color offers all of the same features as the Stingray Profile but has 7 colors and is liquid cooled for quite operation. Available lenses for this fixture are 5°, 10°, 25°, 36°, and 50°. The both the Stingray and Stingray 7-Color use a B size gobo holder. The same powerCon in and out with 4 shutters and gel frame are included.
The Stingray Mini will not begin shipping until sometime in December 2017. It brings a nice clean warm white light to your smaller applications. With a 20w COB 3200k it provides the same rich white that the Stingray does, only smaller and not as bright. It is using the same proprietary diffraction lens system to help this tiny fixture pack a punch. Like it’s big brother the Stingray Mini ships with a 19° lens but they are interchangeable with 26°, 36°, or 50° lens tubes available.
SLA Retina- This new fixture was designed to be a “S”how “L”ighting “A”ccent. This fixture is also IP65 rated for outdoor use to go in planters and holiday displays or even rooftops. The 5” hexagon can fit in many small locations. The cable for this fixture is IP68, we all know that cable can end up in a puddle. The cable is UV-stabilized to hold up in harsh sun of the coast, or the high altitude intensity. The SLA Retina ships with two yoke arms, the height of each is adjustable for maximum flexibility. This is a pretty darn bright fixture can be used for accent lighting in multiple applications. Three 15w CREE RGBW LED’s deliver 1,400 lumens with a 25° beam spread.
Dazer Downlight – The Popular Elektralite Dazer is now available in an architectural form for more permanent installation applications. It is available in 3400k and RGBA. The body is also available in customer colors. There are 36- 5 watt LED’s available in beam spreads of 15°, 25°, 40°, and 60°. These optics are factory installed to allow for quick installation in the field. The fixture ships with a yoke to allow for easy adjustment for sloped ceilings, the yoke can be attaché to ¾” fan rod for installation, allowing for a place to run cables. There is also a mount for a safety cable for a second point of safety.
Fresnel – Elektralite is coming out with an LED Fresnel. There is a 300w COB LED for 3200k or 5600k with a CRI of 94. The 15°-50° zoom is manually operated, but the 100 step dimming through DMX is completely smooth. Power in and out is provided by powerCon connectors and data by 5 pin XLR. This fixture is so new there is not picture yet available to show you.
Enttec has created a bunch of new options to assist with networking and LED tap/pixel mapping control. First up, is their new Hyperion HP1 intelligent gigabit switch. Designed to be a simple plug and play rack mountable network switch that can be easily integrated into almost any system. With 6x front etherCON connectors and 2x rear connectors, the ability to easily configure, and ability to prioritize professional lighting protocols this switch has it all.
Next up, is their new Pixel Port unit. Designed to be a more portable an all in one unit that you can build into your set pieces so that you can get control/power to your pixel controllable LED tape. Each unit has a powerCON in & thru, etherCon in & thru, and 4 pin DMX output.
Finally, we thought this was neat, if you ever wanted LED tape on a black background, Enttec can hook you up as all their tape comes on both black & white ribbons now. The black ribbon blends in a lot better if you wanted to make it disappear on a dark surface!
Environmental Lights were also showing their products for the first time at LDI this year. They featured its extensive assortment of LED tape and DMX driver technology. Their new 5-in-1 LED tape contains RGB diodes with tunable white also featuring both 2,500 white AND a 6,500 white diode with adjustable frequency drivers making it ideal for television applications where flicker control is critical for broadcast quality productions. This new 5-in-1 LED tape produce is expected to start shipping in December.
Fiilex’s LED Track Lighting System consists of the Fiilex Pro Track and the T360 Pro Plus LED fixture. The T360 Pro Plus is a compact, highly controllable LED fixture with an integrated ballast. Its extremely low-profile makes the T360, in combination with the Pro Track, the most suitable lighting system on the market for smaller studio spaces with low clearance. The Pro Track is an architectural-grade surface mounted lighting track that supports up to two unique power circuits. The track features a 22 gauge nickel-plated copper DataLine that can provide DMX control signals to any compatible track fixture. When fully installed and supported, the track can support up to 22 pounds per foot. Infinitely configurable with a wide array of couplers and feeds, the system is available in either black or white.
Follow-Meis an independent, affordable, network-based software package that requires no proprietary hardware, sensors or belt packs.
