Blizzard Lighting

Aria is Blizzard’s new Ellipsoidal with 180w COB, RGBW, and 200w, 3200K, with a 90 CRI. The body and lens tubes are made out of a composite plastic, making the fixture lightweight. Available in 19°, 26°, 36°, and 50°, the lens tubes are also sold separately to be able to create whatever mixture of degrees you wish. The fixture body is also compatible with ETC S4 Lens Tubes. There is an LCD control panel on the back of the fixture for set up. Power in and out is powerCon and DMX in and out is via 3 pinXLR.

Hypno Beam is a relatively new moving head for Blizzard. I sports a 1x60x RGBW 8° LED as the main source and two rings of 60 RGB SMD5050 LEDs. There is individual control of each ring and the Beam source for a myriad of possibilities for effects. There are dozens of built-in effects to get you started. There is also built in auto/sound active programs. Power is supplied in and out via powerCon connectors, while DMX uses 3pin XLR.

Hypno Spot is also relatively new using a 30w white LED, creating a 4.7° spot. There is a 9 color + open color wheel for coloring your effect, and a gobo wheel with 9 gobos + open. It also has two effects rings of 76 RGB SMD5050 LEDs. The main source and the effects rings are controlled separately giving you the maximum control for your effects. Both of there Hypno fixture had a Pan of 540/630° and a tilt of 200°.

Wink is Blizzard’s new Moving Head Beam FX fixture. Sporting a 60w RGBW LED with a 5-45° motorized zoom and a ring of 4 RGB5050 LED segments with pixel control. This incredibly fast has an infinite pan and tilt making it fun to watch it spin around. There are dozens of built-in macros. Power in and out is via powerCon and DMX is 3pin XLR.

IRIS by Blizzard is Blizzards new Video panel. ETL listed the IRIS R3 is appropriate for indoor use only, permanent or rental. Each panel features a 128x128 resolution with a 3-in-1 SMD2121 blackbody for vivid color. There is a 3.9mm pixel pitch with 1200nits of brightness and 1920HZ refresh rate. Power in and out is via powerCon and data via Ethercon.

The panes connect via IRIS’s sophisticated quick lock system, allowing for a curvature of 10° concave and 5° convex maximum. The video panels work with the Novastar®VX4S professional LED display controller, making an external scaler unneeded. Each 250mmx250xx panel weighs less than 17lbs.

Canto USA

Canto USA was started with a specific goal of supplying the lighting community with good quality, nice looking, affordable products. LDI 2017 was a clear indication of this continued commitment. Their RETRO product line transforms existing inefficient incandescent fixtures into energy efficient LED fixtures. Patent-pending technology allows the fixture to smoothly dim from 0-100% utilizing existing dimming technology. Retrofit kits are available with a variety of options for both recessed and pendant style fixtures. Installation is as easy as changing a light bulb and their LED technology creates even fields and delivers consistent color.

Canto’s drive towards energy efficient LED solutions carries over into their powerful LED followspot line with both the ASTRA and ALBA series. These 200w LED modules are capable of producing a high CRI with well defined, a flat-field projection that is ideally suited for different size venues depending on which model FollowSpot you choose. City Theatrical

The hottest ticket on the show floor this year seemed to be City Theatrical’s DMX Cat…but that’s old news. (But if you are still looking for one City T has an LDIShow Special good through the end of the year! - Contact your local Barbizon for details.)

The biggest innovation in wireless technology is here in Multiverse – up to nine universes of DMX transmitted wirelessly from one device – it even includes native DMX Cat integration! And of course, it is compatible with the Show DMX system.

Multiverse comes to us in four products:

Multiverse Transmitter:

-Four radios: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for inputs (DMX Cat and apps ala Luminair), 900MHz and 2.4GHz for Multiverse wireless DMX/RDM output
-Ethernet input for Streaming ACN and Art-Net
-All setup and user choices made with our free DMXcat app
-Rugged cast aluminum enclosure
-A hanging bracket is included for hanging from a pipe or truss

Multiverse Node:

-Built-in 2.4GHz (for worldwide use) and 900MHz (for use in the Americas only) radios allow the user to select which single universe to transmit on, and which radio band to transmit on via the SHoW ID
-Single universe receiver that allows user to select the desired universe
-A very simple user interface to set SHoW ID and universe
-Rugged cast aluminum enclosure
-A single dual band antenna
-XLR input and output
-A hanging bracket for hanging from pipe or truss
-Optional yoke mount bracket
-Optional battery pack

Multiverse Gateway:

-Four radios: Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for inputs (DMX Cat and apps ala Luminair), 900MHz and 2.4GHz for wireless DMX/RDM output.
-Ethernet input for Streaming ACN and Art-Net
-All setup and user choices made with our free DMXcat app
-Rugged cast aluminum enclosure
-A hanging bracket is included for hanging from a pipe or truss
- 8 universes of DMX output

Multiverse Module

The Multiverse Module is a tiny circuit board mounted device for lighting manufacturers that allows them to utilize all of the benefits of a wireless lighting system built directly into their fixture – ask your favorite manufacturer if this is of interest to you!

Da-Lite, a Milestone AV Technology Brand

Fast-Fold NXT is a stronger, faster and simpler screen system for rental and staging environments. The re-invented design features a stronger extrusion, hinge, and corner as well as new height adjustment that allows the viewing area to be raised and lowered easily. A new case design upgrades the storage and transport capabilities and provides a foldable 4K-ready surface. The Fast-Fold NXT also offers new surface formulation and binding, with clips used for surface attachment, RF weld for clean lines, and a vinyl binding for easier attachment and flexibility.

Doug Fleenor Design

Hot on the heels of last year’s DMX Kegerator, at the home of Dr DMX this year, not only could you duel your friends in a Battle-Bot style arena with balloon-popping robots controlled by lighting consoles (I chose the Gio over the Apathy and Avolight options), but the Hawaiian shirt crew was showing several new products, including the E2E. The"Ethernet to Ethernet" interface is a lighting protocol conversion device with support for four universes of data. The input and output connections may use completely separate networks simultaneously, or transmit and receive on the same network using a switch. An internal web server provides configuration options on each port. The in and out ports may be configured to use E1.31 sACN, draft sACN, Artnet, Strand Shownet, and KiNeT. Universe numbering may be selected for each of the individual four channels. DHCP or IPv4 fixed addressing may be set individually on input and output. I know we’ve all had to reconfigure our sACN network for that ONE Artnet-only device. This is your get-out-of-jail-free card.

Also of particular interest was the new Decelerator featuring a “choose your speed” option (slow, medium, fast), as well as a bypass mode making this a true 1-to-1 opto-isolator.

Fleenor has also updated their relay pack with an Ethernet native option. Milton was very proud to have included most of the custom options he has cooked up over the years in the base model of this new version - such as momentary mode, latch lock, threshold setting, to name a few.
