disguise Media Server systems have been getting a lot of notice this year in the entertainment industry. With tours like Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, and The Rolling Stones it is hard for them to go unnoticed. However, media servers are no longer just for concerts and big events like the Grammy's. disguise media servers are also being used in Broadcast, Fixed Installs, and Live Theatre. disguise has built a reputation that has quickly carried them to the top of the industry. This reputation is built on two things: Rock Solid Hardware and a Community of Users. All of disguise's media servers offer 3D visualization and set up, stunning effects and robust programming features. The disguise product line is scalable from a single 4K output to as many as 16 outputs. And every media server is sold with formal training from disguise's dedicated support team. The collaborative nature of the disguise organization is what draws users with new ideas to them. They work tirelessly to include existing technology and add new technology to their software every day. A great example of this is their implementation of Notch, a real-time graphics generator which provides users with stunning visual effects. A second example is the collaboration between disguise and Black Trax, a 3D tracking systems which enables disguise users to project on any moving surface, object, or subject. New for LDI disguise introduced the VX 4 a new piece of hardware completely redesigned from the ground up. It includes:

Dr. DMX has long been the go-to guy for all things DMX. His products are used industry wide for testing and stable reproduction of DMX Signals. But now we can also turn to the team at Doug Fleenor Design for all of our sACN & Artnet needs. New for this year is the DMX doohickey - the name is the only thing funny about it. This tiny device is designed to detect the address on channel 512 of a DMX universe. With hundreds of DMX universes available in sACN range people are beginning to identify them by parking channel 512 at the same value as the universe they are using. (universe #1 = channel 512 @1%) The DMX doohickey quickly identifies that DMX universe.
Preset 10 Ethernet is a new 10-button station for Snapshot Capture and Architectural Playback of up to four (4) universes of DMX. These universes are collected from the sACN stream via RJ-45 with support for POE switches. Multiple stations may operate on the same network. Also new for this year is the 8 Channel Ethernet to Analog Interface. This device will accept sACN or ArtNet protocols and convert them into 0-10V outputs for control of analog equipment and lighting. LynTec was showing their new line of Xtend Power Control (XPC) remote relay modules and standalone controller.
LynTec’s new XPC remote relay modules extend beyond the traditional reach of the company’s relay panels and motorized circuit breakers. Enclosed in a metal cube, they can be placed anywhere imaginable: in the rack, on rigging, behind line arrays, or anywhere equipment is located. Each module contains an electrical connection, a power plug, and an Ethernet port. Integration is simple and straightforward: Connect the module to a power source and the network, and then plug in the equipment that needs power control. Using LynTec’s IP-based GUI, users can set up and customize the control and sequencing for each device. The family includes:
XRM 20 Relay Module: a standalone 20-amp cube enclosure with two independent relays to control the two onboard duplex plugs.
XRM 30 Relay Module: a standalone 30-amp cube enclosure with a single relay switch that controls a single 30A L5-30 receptacle.
XRS 20 Rack Sequencer: a 1RU rack-mounted enclosure powered from a 20-amp circuit to provide control to three duplex receptacles, each of which has its own relay switch for onboard sequencing.
XRS 80 Rack Sequencer: a hardwired vertical rack-mounted strip that can manage up to four 20-amp circuits that power four corresponding duplexes, each with its own relay switch to provide onboard control.
The XPC standalone controller offers LynTec’s trusted RPC control solution that previously was only available in LynTec’s RPC series motorized circuit breaker panel, RPCM mobile distro, RPCR wall-mounted relay panel, or NPAC rack-mounted relay panel. Now customers can take advantage of all the capabilities and features of the popular and time-tested RPC controller they’re already familiar with but in a standalone 1RU rack-mounted enclosure. This eliminates the costs of purchasing preconfigured controllable circuit breakers or relays while providing customers with a way to operate one or more remotely placed relay modules spread out over an extended area or venue. Easy to set up, operate, and maintain, the controller can control lighting and AV systems across multiple control zones and protocols and offers customizable step rates and delay settings for sequencing, load shedding at the circuit level for emergency off, auto-on for egress lighting, a built-in timer for automated control, and more. In addition to onboard control options, the XPC controller can interface with any third-party control system that communicates with Telnet, HTTP, DMX512, sACN, or contact closure signals.
LynTec also demonstrated their the ready-to-install NPAC rackmount power management solution. It is the only rackmount solution of its kind to sequence on/off complex digital audio systems with easy-to-program extended step rates and time delays that guarantee proper component boot-up and shutdown automatically. NPAC is available in two models: 120V or 240V, and features four 20A circuit inputs in a single 2RU enclosure — saving valuable rack space over 4RU systems and eliminating the need to wire multiple units together.
The new XPC line is expected to ship starting in December.
MA Lighting had on display the new grandMA3 systems, capable of outputting up to 250,000 parameters. There are three sizes of processing units to expand the console parameter count. The full-size and light models feature a huge multi-touch screen surface area. All dedicated encoder and playback information is accessed directly on the letterbox screens allowing the larger screens to be fully-configured to suit user needs.
grandMA3 breaks the limitations of Local Area Networks (LAN) with the ability to access Wide Area Networks (WAN). The grandMA3 control software utilizes a flexible new fixture concept, developed to replicate the real-world physical components of the most complex fixtures. Fixture information is now generic and allows simpler sharing of programmed data between fixtures. MA Lighting supports the new GDTF (General Device Type Format) protocol natively, allowing fixture manufactures to ensure their own fixtures are controlled as intended.
The grandMA3 consoles feature Dual Encoders, for which feature-mapping is customizable. Long-life motorized playback faders are used also across the entire grandMA3 console range. The faders incorporate a color-changing light pipe on all models except onPC command wing. All playbacks have direct access to button pushes as well as intensity and timing changes via new rotary RGB backlit encoders. The almost-silent buttons feature low travel and have a positive actuation-point.
The grandMA3 software features an integrated 3D visualizer for the ability to manipulate and playback basic media content directly from within the console. Dynamic effects are no longer restricted to just two-step modulated parameters. The grandMA3 software has a new effects concept allowing multi-step effect sequences to be nested inside a cue or preset.
