"In entertainment technology education core knowledge and skill sets are an absolute must. But beyond tying knots and hanging lights, students should have access to the equipment and technologies that they will encounter at the next level."   Dana Taylor - Technical Theatre Teacher, Mt. BACKGROUND
Barbizon was hired again by the design team to complete the lighting and rigging system for their Liberty University Tower Theatre project in Campus North.  Utilizing an existing tower structure, Barbizon worked with the architect and spatial consultant to design a 600+ seat proscenium theatre. From design to completion, the aggressive ten month schedule challenged the entire team.

SOLUTION

The Barbizon Capitol team provided and installed a state-of-the-art theatre that included motorized rigging, conventional and moving lights, and a networked control system, which integrates the architectural lighting, performance lighting, and data-driven theatrical technology.

The resulting Dimming and Control System consists of (288) ETC Sensor+ Dimmers for conventional fixtures and a series of 208v circuits for moving lights.  The ETC NET3 control system is distributed throughout the space via a closed network and driven by the eight universe GrandMA 2 Lite Console.

The extensive fixture package consists of (146) ETC Source Four conventional fixtures, (18) Altman Spectra Cyc LED fixtures, (12) Vari*Lite VL3500Q moving lights, and a significant cable and accessories package.

The rigging system is a combination of (18) JR Clancy PowerLift motorized hoists, and a series of dead hung linesets designated for future motorization. The drapery package was manufactured with the help of Stage Decoration & Supplies, Inc.
