NAB is a huge show. 93 thousand people converged on the Las Vegas Convention center to see the latest in all things broadcast / content creation. Barbizon annually exhibits in the central hall in the acquisition area and we have multiple education sessions over the course of the first three days. All were well attended. John Gates, Jim Sippel and John Gebbie spoke on hot-button topics that included LED lighting, tungsten vs. daylight, and Chromakey lighting. Adlabs ImagicaBarbizon Lighting's India office were responsible for a large amount of the lighting and control equipment onto the "Wrath of God" ride in the Adlabs Imagica theme park outside of Mumbai. The Temora Aviation Museum in Temora New South Wales is built on the site of the biggest and longest lasting RAAF Elementary Flying Training School during World War II. 10 EFTS was established in May 1941 and training ceased in May 1945. A total of 2741 pilots were trained on Tiger Moths at Temora. The entrance building, of the Museum, is the original 10 EFTS Guardhouse, relocated from the airport main gate. We would like to thank our customers for their patience this last week due to the challenges we faced with Hurricane Sandy. Luckily we were able to re-open on Wednesday with some minor hindrances but now our communications systems are at 100%. With that said, because of some of the continuing challenges with transportation and to allow our employees to work near their homes to restore a sense of normalcy, Barbizon Electric (NYC) will be closed Saturday 11/3. Visitors arriving at the beginning of Westford CAT’s Open House, on Thursday October 25, witnessed their local television station’s receipt of a large rebate check from National Grid. Ellen Hermanowski, National Grid’s Manager of Energy Efficiency Inside Sales, presented Westford CAT with a check for over $29,000, covering 60% of the studio’s new $48,000 energy efficient lighting package. Barbizon Lighting will be kicking off a series of targeted console trainings on August 21st through the 23rd!Our first class is aimed at programmers, operators and designers familiar with legacy ETC consoles – the Express, Expression and Obsession series – who have recently switched, or are considering switching to the EOS family of lighting control.This class will focus on the Element console, which replaces the Express line. BCTV recently completed the construction on their new studio. The studio changes consisted of adding new energy efficient studio lighting,lighting grid, and a brand new addition, a studio curtain.The curtain creates a second studio set, by sliding over the standard fixed studio that the station has used for the last couple of years.
